At its April 18, 2017 meeting, the Board of Directors of Middlesex Water Company (the "Company") declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.21125 per common share payable on June 1, 2017 for shareholders of record as of May 12, 2017. A copy of the press release announcing the dividend declaration is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and incorporated into this Form 8-K by reference.

Middlesex Water Company ANNOUNCES
QUARTERLY CASH DIVIDEND
ISELIN, NJ April 20, 2017 -- Middlesex Water Company (NASDAQ: MSEX) announced today that its Board of Directors has approved a regular quarterly dividend of $0.21125 per common share payable on June 1, 2017 to holders of record as of May 12, 2017. Middlesex Water has paid cash dividends since 1912 and has increased its annual dividend rate for 44 consecutive years.
